Educational Offerings

Wintergrass offers a robust selection of unique education programs. Each of these programs require additional registration, however Wintergrass also offers a huge selection of workshops during the festival itself. Admission to these festival workshops is included in the price of your ticket.

D'Addario Youth Academy - Feb. 23-24, 2012 - For kids ages 7-14, this program focusses on young beginning and intermediate players and culminates in a main stage performance on Friday evening.

Wintergrass Youth Orchestra - Feb 25-26, 2012 - For middle and high school string orchestra players, this program provides students the opportunity to play alternative styles music under the direction of American String Teachers Association president Bob Phillips and perform with Darol Anger, Väsen, and other Wintergrass artists. Students receive their parts as early as October and gather for one mass rehearsal in January.

Wintergrass Intensives - Feb 23, 2012 - For high intermediate and advanced players, these full and half day sessions are taught by exceptional artists and focus on one topic. While generally designed for adults, exceptions will be made for younger players on a case by case basis.

Educator Seminar - Feb 24, 2012 It is designed for elementary and middle school teachers from various disciplines (not ust music teachers!). Librarians, homeschoolers, college students studying education, curriculum specialists, and other interested in learning effective ways to motivate students are encouraged to apply. Although Washington teachers can get clock hour credits, the workshop is designed for attendees from everywhere, not just Washington.
